My son is full of jokes! He greets learning with as much fun as lizard-catching and frog-hunting. Rhyming words is a sport and getting in another punch line earns him a bonus star in his world.
This is his first year of homeschool, and we have just entered the second 9-week block. He is reading like a champ and powering through library books like his favorite Monster Truck, Max-D.
I knew before we started his first lesson, teaching him to read would be very different from his sister’s process. She also lunged into learning with delight! We had a blast, but my daughter’s temperament allows her to sit still more often than her brother does.
Actually, the starkest difference between the two of them might just be the “chair.” He liked being free of a chair. I came across this awesome blog that confirmed some observations about my family’s learning styles, and it challenged me to consider a few more aspects of my son’s preferences and needs. I loved considering how my son hears, thinks and sees all with the goal of connecting meaningfully.
